About Greensboro station
Greensboro is one of four Silver Line stations serving Tysons, and like its neighbors it is elevated above Route 7 – Leesburg Pike – on a viaduct, with entrances reached by escalators and elevators from the street below. It opened with the first phase of the Silver Line as part of the effort to turn Tysons from an office-park-and-mall district into something more urban. That transformation is visibly incomplete: there are new residential towers close to the station, but also wide arterial roads and surface parking. It is primarily a commuter and residential stop, with the Tysons Galleria shopping center within walking distance for those willing to cross the boulevards.

Tysons, Fairfax County’s business center: high-rise offices, hotels, two major shopping malls, and an increasing number of apartment towers, all threaded by very wide roads. Pedestrian conditions have improved around the Silver Line stations but remain awkward away from them. Riders are office workers, hotel guests, residents of the newer buildings, and shoppers.

Tips for using Greensboro
- Tysons has four Silver Line stations close together – check which one is nearest your destination, because walking between them along Route 7 is unpleasant.
- Tysons Corner station, not Greensboro, is the one directly connected to the Tysons Corner Center mall.
- There is no Metro parking at Greensboro; drivers generally use the garages at other Tysons stations or private commercial lots.

Tysons Corner station serves Tysons Corner Center directly. Greensboro is the closer station to Tysons Galleria, roughly a ten to fifteen minute walk depending on the route. Check which mall you actually want before choosing, since the two are separate centers.
Yes. Like the other Tysons stations, Greensboro is elevated on a viaduct above Leesburg Pike, with escalators and elevators connecting the platform down to street level. That makes the platform exposed to weather, but it also gives good open views across the Tysons skyline.
WMATA does not operate a park-and-ride facility here. Some of the other Silver Line stations further west have Metro parking, and there is private commercial parking around Tysons. Check wmata.com for the current situation before driving.
The Silver Line only. Trains run east through the rest of Tysons and on through Arlington into downtown Washington, and west toward Reston, Herndon, Washington Dulles International Airport, and the Ashburn terminus. No other line stops here.
