About the Green Line

The Green Line runs between Branch Ave and Greenbelt, calling at 21 stations and taking about 49 minutes end to end. It runs north to south through the eastern half of the city, connecting Greenbelt and College Park with downtown, the ballpark and Prince George’s County.

For much of its route it runs alongside other lines – it shares 13 stations with the Yellow Line – so at those stops you can change trains without leaving the paid area or paying a second fare.

There is no separate fare for the Green Line – the DC Metro charges by distance, not by line. A short hop costs $2.25; the longest weekday trip on the whole system is $6.75.
