About Suitland station
Suitland exists largely because of the federal complex next door. The Suitland Federal Center, home to the Census Bureau’s headquarters among other agencies, sits within a short walk of the station, and a substantial share of weekday riders here are federal employees and contractors doing exactly that trip in reverse. Around them is a big Green Line park-and-ride with nearly nineteen hundred spaces and a full bus loop serving the surrounding Prince George’s County neighborhoods. It is a functional, well-used commuter station rather than a destination, and the ride into central Washington — north through Anacostia and under the river to L’Enfant Plaza — is quick and direct.

Suitland is an unincorporated Prince George’s County community of single-family homes, apartment complexes and strip commercial along Silver Hill Road and Suitland Parkway. The Smithsonian operates collections and support facilities in the Suitland area, but these are storage and conservation sites rather than public museums. Do not plan a museum visit around this station — the Smithsonian’s public museums are on the National Mall, served by Smithsonian and L’Enfant Plaza stations.
The Green Line runs north from here through Naylor Road and Anacostia, then under the Anacostia River to Navy Yard and L’Enfant Plaza. It is a direct trip into the middle of the city with no change of train required for the Mall area or Gallery Place.
