Who runs this site
metrowashington.org is an independent guide to the Washington DC Metrorail system. It is a privately operated website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) or any government body.

What this site is for
We publish information about Metrorail lines, stations, fares, hours and routes, drawn from WMATA’s own published data and clearly sourced. The aim is to make that information easier to find and easier to read than it is in its original form.
Accuracy and the limits of it
Transit information changes. Fares are revised, schedules shift, stations close for maintenance, and services are added and withdrawn. We date-stamp the figures we publish and name their source so you can see how current they are, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is accurate at the moment you read it.
For anything that matters – a last train, a fare you are budgeting for, a service disruption – check wmata.com. WMATA is the only authoritative source for its own service, and where this site and WMATA disagree, WMATA is right.

Trademarks and intellectual property
“Metro”, “Metrorail”, “Metrobus”, “SmarTrip”, “Smart Trip” and the M roundel are marks of WMATA. They are used on this site only to describe WMATA’s services, which is nominative fair use. We do not use WMATA’s logo, do not imitate its visual identity, and do not reproduce its official map, which is a copyrighted design.
The network diagram on this site is our own original work, drawn from published factual data about which stations exist and how they connect. Facts are not copyrightable; the particular drawing is ours.
Photographs are used under their respective licenses, with attribution where the license requires it.
Links to other sites
We link to wmata.com and other third-party sites for source material and official services. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
