Stadium-Armory Station - DC Metro
Blue Line, Orange Line and Silver Line - interchange station in Washington, DC.
About Stadium-Armory station
East of Capitol Hill, where the Blue, Orange and Silver Lines still run together before splitting, Stadium-Armory serves the strip of the city around the DC Armory and the old RFK Stadium campus. For decades it was the game-day station, handling football and soccer crowds; with RFK closed and its site being redeveloped, the everyday role has taken over — it is now mainly the neighborhood station for Hill East, the residential blocks around 19th Street SE, and the eastern approaches to Lincoln Park. It is also the last shared stop before the Blue Line diverges toward Benning Road and the Orange and Silver head off along their own alignment, which makes it a useful place to know if you are watching the line splits.
The area around Stadium-Armory
Hill East is the quieter continuation of Capitol Hill past the Anacostia freeway approaches — rowhouses, corner stores and a good deal of green space, with the Armory grounds and the Anacostia River just to the east. It is residential and largely local, without the restaurant density of Barracks Row or Eastern Market a mile west. Riders here are mostly commuters and residents.

Tips for using Stadium-Armory
- RFK Stadium has been closed and its campus is under redevelopment, so do not assume this is still an event station — check the venue before you plan a trip around a game.
- This is the last station where the Blue, Orange and Silver Lines all run together heading east, so double-check the destination sign on your train before boarding.
- Eastern Market and the Barracks Row restaurants are a stop or two west rather than a walk from here.
Stadium-Armory station FAQ
Not at present. RFK Stadium, which the station was built to serve, has been closed and its site is being redeveloped. Before planning a trip for any event, confirm the actual venue and the recommended station — WMATA posts service advice for major events at wmata.com.
Heading east, this is the last station shared by all three. After Stadium-Armory the Blue Line branches toward Benning Road and Largo, while the Orange and Silver Lines continue on their own alignment toward Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood, with the Orange terminating at New Carrollton.
You can, but it is close to a mile west along Pennsylvania Avenue or East Capitol Street, so twenty minutes or more. Riding one stop to Eastern Market station is quicker and simpler if you are heading for the market itself.
There is no Metro park-and-ride facility here. Street parking in the surrounding Hill East blocks is residential-permit restricted during the day, so this station is best reached on foot, by bike or by bus.
