Benning Road Station - DC Metro
Blue Line and Silver Line - interchange station in Washington, DC.
About Benning Road station
Benning Road is a Blue and Silver line station in far Northeast Washington, built to serve the residential neighborhoods on either side of the Benning Road corridor east of the Anacostia River. The station has two entrances and no Metro parking, so nearly everyone arrives on foot or by connecting bus. Traffic here is overwhelmingly local and commuter-driven, with strong morning flows toward downtown and the federal core. It is not a destination station and does not pretend to be one – what it offers is a fast, direct ride into the city center from a part of Washington that has historically been poorly served by other options.
The area around Benning Road
The blocks around the station are residential Northeast: rowhouses, apartment buildings and small commercial frontage along Benning Road itself. Fort Mahan Park and the northern reaches of the Fort Circle park system give the area more green space than the main road suggests. Riders are almost entirely residents heading to work or school, and the station is busiest in the weekday peaks.

Benning Road station FAQ
The Blue Line and the Silver Line both serve Benning Road. Westbound they run together through Stadium-Armory and into downtown Washington before separating on the Virginia side, so confirm the train destination if you are heading past Rosslyn.
No, Benning Road has no Metro park-and-ride facility. It is a walk-up and bus-transfer station serving the surrounding neighborhoods. Drivers heading into the city on this corridor usually use Capitol Heights or Addison Road-Seat Pleasant in Maryland instead.
It is a short ride – the station is close in on the eastern side of the system, and Blue and Silver line trains run direct through Stadium-Armory toward L Enfant Plaza and Metro Center without any change. Check current travel times on wmata.com before you plan around a tight connection.
Not directly. The H Street/Benning Road streetcar line runs west of here and its eastern end is closer to the Stadium-Armory area. An eastward extension toward Benning Road station has long been discussed, so check the current status on the DC streetcar site rather than assuming a connection.
