West Falls Church Station - DC Metro
Orange Line - station in Falls Church, VA.
About West Falls Church station
West Falls Church is an Orange Line park-and-ride in the median of Interstate 66, with about two thousand spaces and a bus loop feeding it from the surrounding Fairfax County neighborhoods. For years it also served a university satellite campus on Haycock Road, and that site is now part of a large mixed-use redevelopment that is gradually adding housing and retail beside the station. Its practical role has stayed constant, though: catch drivers heading toward the District, get them onto a train before the freeway backs up. The city of Falls Church proper is east of here, and the East Falls Church station on the same line is the one closer to it.
The area around West Falls Church
The area around the station is Fairfax County suburbia — single-family neighborhoods on quiet streets, a high school, and the I-66 corridor cutting through. New construction on the former university campus site is bringing apartments and ground-floor retail within walking distance for the first time. The rider base is drivers from western Fairfax and residents of the immediate neighborhoods.

Historically very little — it was a highway-median park-and-ride surrounded by residential streets. The redevelopment of the former university campus site on Haycock Road is adding housing and retail nearby, but this remains primarily a commuter station.
