East Falls Church is a commuter station in the truest sense – built in the median of Interstate 66, with the platform sitting between the highway lanes and a park-and-ride lot on the north side. Orange and Silver Line trains both call here, which makes it a useful boarding point for anyone in the northern Arlington and Falls Church area heading into the District. Despite the name, it is inside Arlington County rather than the City of Falls Church, whose downtown is further west. The surrounding blocks are quiet, low-rise, and residential, and most people arriving on foot are walking in from those streets or riding in on the trail network that passes just beside the station.
