About Pentagon City station

Pentagon City is the shopping and hotel station of the National Landing area, with a direct connection into the Fashion Centre mall right from the mezzanine – unusual in a system where most retail is a walk away. Blue and Yellow Line trains stop here, one south of Pentagon, and the station has become considerably busier as Amazon’s second headquarters and the surrounding office and apartment towers have filled in nearby. Five entrances spread riders around the intersection of South Hayes Street and Army Navy Drive. For visitors it is a practical base: hotels are plentiful, the airport is a few minutes away by train, and the National Mall is a straightforward ride across the river.

The area around Pentagon City

Dense high-rise Arlington – apartment towers, hotels and offices around a shopping center, with the Pentagon Row block adding street-level restaurants and a seasonal ice rink. Amazon’s campus and the wider National Landing redevelopment have added considerable weekday population. It is walkable in a way much of suburban Virginia is not, though the blocks are large and the towers set back.
